About Me

Untitled photo

My name is Carly, I have hazel eyes, and man have they seen some things. With all the craziness going on in this world, I wanted to share a place that I've always considered a safe haven, the ocean. Being born and raised in the Bay Area I was never to far from the water. The peace and solitude the ocean offers saved my life, and when I couldn’t get there I had my pictures to remind me. Maybe sharing my pictures could help others. When we moved to Pacific Grove, CA, I had absolutely no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I had to do a little soul searching, and what better place to start. Taking photos at the beach has always been more instinctual and cathartic, so I never really gave photography as a profession a thought.

I have confidence in my work because the artistic flare courses through my bloodstream quite literally. As a child I was my Grandmother's photographic muse. She had taken a few photography classes and used me to sharpen her skills. My other Grandmother has knack for the abstract by creating other worldly colorful dolls, revamping old bottles into colorful retro centerpieces, and paintings so vibrant the world around them seems dull. I had no idea watching their every move when I was a child would eventually lead me down this path. This is a journey you are taking with me. I am still trying to find my place in this world, and I appreciate you giving Hazel Wave Photography a chance to thrive in it.

Healing Through Photography

I've always felt so out of place, yet the sand on the beach always molded to my footprint. It was as if the waves crashed in the same cadence of my anxious heartbeat. I started taking pictures of the moments I felt at ease so that I knew it was possible to have peace of mind where ever I went. That is exactly why I have chosen to share my experiences with you.

I Work With What I've Got

I am not a millionaire. I don't own the best of the best. I have simple necessities that give me the results I need to fulfill my passion. My Grandmother taught me an interesting concept when it comes to selling artwork. She loved watching people enjoy her work, so she priced her art based upon interactions with her customers. I also understand not everyone is made of money. That is why I am more then willing to work with anyone that enjoys my photography. No matter how crazy this world has become, I have found peace and happiness through photographing the ocean, and so can you through Hazel Wave Photography. ENJOY!!!

What you see is what you get. I am 33 years old and discovering my true self for the first time. Art can be captivated with any tool And I am thankful for what I have! I use a Sony A6100, as well as my smartphone. The things you can do with a smartphone are limitless!
